So Canadian: Artisan Paddles, Posters and Pennants
Though promotion was not a first intent for this blog, you gotta give cool things the attention deserved. Especially, when they artisany (that is our word for it) and you want them to turn your dwelling into a chalet, cottage or cabin. Or, if you live in said dwelling, to really make that motif pop. These three brands are Canadian rustic, nostalgic and vintage chic at its best.
Take this for example, "Our paddles are hand-carved of cherry wood responsibly sourced from the Haliburton Forest." I want one right now! Stop the marketing, I'm sold.
Founder, Natasha Wittke started the globally recognized brand Norquay Co. in 2013. Inspired by her 600km canoe trip along the Missinaibi River. It was an idea to innovate on an iconic Canadian object that was rich in history and heritage, "I spent so much time with a paddle in my hand I suppose it was inevitable I would make it my canvas one day.”
A true nod to Canadian heritage, these collectible pieces of functional art have made their way into homes, stores, and hoteliers across the world. They are undeniable stunning and can be found here. Norquay Co. also sells wool blankets and toques.
Speaking of numbers, there are now 85 different posters to choose. Their site says, "Contemporary artwork designed to look like authentic, vintage travel posters." And, "Gorgeous colours, reminiscent of wood-cut and serigraph artwork from the 1920’s-30’s." They come in different sizes and are stunning.
